A thermoplastic foam, combining outstanding fire performance with
high service temperature. It has excellent dielectric properties. It is a
resilient foam for use in fire and structural applications within an operating
temperature range of –194°C(-317°F) to +160°C(+320 °F).
Applications
- Marine:
interiors for high speed ferries
- Road and Rail:
front-ends for trains, interior parts with high fire/smoke/toxicity requirements
- Aircraft and Space:
aircraft interiors, thermal insulation, radomes and telecommunication systems
- Industrial Parts:
parts exposed to dynamic loads, structures exposed to extreme temperatures (-194 °C to +160 °C)
Characteristics
- fulfils most stringent fire requirements
- operating temperature between –194 °C and +160 °C
- high impact resistance (non-brittle failure mode)
- 3-dimensionally thermoformable
- excellent dielectric properties, good radar transparency
Processing
- prepreg processing (up to 180 °C)
- adhesive bonding
- hand lay-up
- fibre spraying
- thermoforming
