Non crimp multiaxial stitched fabrics are an alternative to conventional fabrics.
These non woven fabrics are made by assembling unidirectionals in one single stitch operation.
More than one axis can be combined in a non crimp fabric (NCF):
0° (longitudinal)
0°/90° (transverse)
+45/45° (biaxial or double bias)
0°/-45°/+45° (longitudinal triaxial)
-45°/ 90°/+45° (transverse triaxial)
0° / -45° / 90° / +45° (quadriaxial)
The filaments can be made from glass, carbon, aramid, polyamid etc...
These NCF fabrics can also be stitched in combination with mat.
Multiaxial fabrics have many advantages:
- Multiple orientation possibilities
- Higher mechanical values with non crimp fibers
- Higher fiber content
- Heavy single fabric possibilities
- High drapability
- Possibilities of combining different types of filaments
- Most suitable for infusion
